Private customers can now access the complete online tyre program

With this new offer the European market leader in online tyre sales provides Austrian car and motorbike drivers access to its complete internet tyre portfolio: tyres, and since winter, steel alloys - for private, commercial, all terrain vehicles, and now motorbikes. Delticom has been selling tyres in Austria since Autumn 2000. Initially the Hanover-based tyre dealer sold cars tyres to private consumers at its B2C tyre shop: www.reifendirekt.at. At the beginning of 2002, the company launched its B2B tyre offer (www.autoreifendirekt.at) for tyrefitters and workshops in Austria. "This development is consistent with our strategy to open a motorbike tyre shop in all the markets in which we already have a B2C offer in the market", explained Delticom Managing Director Rainer Binder (44). Delticom sells tyres in 6 European countries, besides Germany and Austria, this includes Switzerland, Great Britain, the Netherlands, and since the beginning of the year Sweden. Further expansion is planned. The service network includes more than 1.600 service partners. These can be selected online and the tyres can be delivered directly to the service station.

Positive Development - 6 months turnover quadrupled in Austria

In last year's business year, Delticom earned revenue totalling 21.7 million Euro and a profit of 322.000 Euro. The ratio earned outside Germany was ten percent. In Austria, total revenue for 2001 amounted to 120,000 Euros. In the first half of 2002, the Hanover company has already earned the same amount, increasing revenue to four times the sum earned in the same time period of 2001 (first half of 2001: 30.000 Euro).

In general, the second half of the year is stronger with regard to revenue. More than half of all tyres are sold in the last quarter during the winter tyre season from October to December. Record order day in the current business year was 18th March, when orders for summer tyres climbed to 5000 Euros. "Five days before the Easter holidays in Austria, drivers decided to check their cars' safety for the upcoming journey", Dr. Andreas Prüfer (39), Delticom Managing Director responsible for E-Commerce commented the order figures.
